The Mercer Museum’s exciting major exhibition, The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution, explores the history and intrigue of a group of Revolutionary War-era Loyalist outlaws who plotted, schemed, and plundered their way through a divided world in the earliest days of a budding American nation.
The Mercer Museum is thrilled to present a wide array of community programs related to the exhibition, including special behind-the-scenes tours, evenings of storytelling involving the Doans and Revolutionary Bucks County, and more!
Meet the Curator Tours

Special Lecture – Dendrochronology: Demystified

This presentation will explore the science of dendrochronology, or tree-ring dating, and its applied use for dating and interpreting historic structures. Case studies will be presented, including a tavern mantel currently on display in the Doan Gang exhibition.

Special Lecture – The Painter’s Fire: A Forgotten History of the Artists who Championed the American Revolution

Dr. Glenda Goodman, Associate Professor of Music at University of Pennsylvania, shares the life, education, and marriages of Catharine Akerly, daughter of a Revolutionary Patriot. Her story shows us tensions as women pursued their educational and artistic interests while maintaining the social expectations of their era.
