The Mercer Museum’s exciting major exhibition, The Doan Gang: Outlaws of the Revolution, explores the history and intrigue of a group of Revolutionary War-era Loyalist outlaws who plotted, schemed, and plundered their way through a divided world in the earliest days of a budding American nation.
The Mercer Museum is thrilled to present a wide array of community programs related to the exhibition, including special behind-the-scenes tours, evenings of storytelling involving the Doans and Revolutionary Bucks County, and more!
Special Lecture – The Painter’s Fire: A Forgotten History of the Artists who Championed the American Revolution

Join Dr. Zara Anishanslin, Associate Professor of History and Art History at the University of Delaware, for an afternoon of discovery as she shares stories of the American Revolution highlighting artists armed with paint, canvas, wax, activism, and espionage on both sides of the Atlantic.

Her story shows us tensions as women pursued their educational and artistic interests while maintaining the social expectations of their era.
